PRAYER POINTS FOR AUGUST 2012
SCRIPTURE: “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.” Eph. 6:17-18
PRAISE POINTS: Praise God for the many Christians who are living and working in Islamic countries to spread the Word of truth, hope and freedom.
Give thanks for those churches and individuals within Australia who are reaching out to the many different ethnic and cultural groups living in our neighbourhoods.
Give thanks for Senator Chris Bowen and others who have decided to vote against same sex marriage because of the response that they have received from their constituents. Your emails and phone calls DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
“Australian Christians” presence at agricultural shows: Trevor Young, (our candidate for the Agriculture in 2013), and his wife Jacky are setting up stands at upcoming rural shows in
- Dalwallinu 25th August,
- Dowerin Field Days 29/30th August,
- Newdegate Agricultural Show 5/6th September 2012.
Pray that Trevor and Jacky will be well received at these Shows and that many more members will be signed up. Pray for helpers to assist in the set up and dismantling of the stand, to relieve for meal breaks, and to assist in handing out brochures and information.
Palliative Care in Australia: Pray for Government and the Committee as they consider the issue of palliative care in Australia. The public have been invited to send submissions for the Committee to consider when making their decisions. They will be meeting on 12th September 2012. (A full report can be found on the Government website.)
Unemployment – Businesses closing and going into liquidation: Pray for businesses around the country that are facing financial difficulties because of the current economic situation. Pray that solutions may be found so that they can remain operational. Pray for the hundreds of men and women who have recently been made redundant and are now facing financial, marital and mental health problems.
Electricity, Gas and Water Bills: In South Australia a bill has been introduced in Parliament to require utility companies to show the carbon tax component on people’s bills so that they will be informed about the impact of the carbon tax on them. Pray that other State politicians will come on board and support this bill.
State director and office in Melbourne: Pray for suitable and affordable office space in Melbourne and for a State director to organize the office, volunteers and campaign for Federal election in 2013.
Funding for WA state director: Pray for financial support to allow our new state director to start work ASAP.
National fundraising campaign: Pray that Christian business operators and wealthy individuals will see the urgent need to financially support a truly Christian party in Australia.
